Tokyo Mew Mew New: Mew Ichigo’s Transformation *UPDATE*

The Tokyo Mew Mew reboot, Tokyo Mew Mew New (that’s a tongue twister), premiered a couple days ago! 😆 I thought if I ever got to see my Mew Mews again, it would be if Funimation or Crunchyroll rescued the 2002 anime from 4Kids. Other fans expected that one day, too.

But a reboot? That’s even better! This cute show deserved a fresh coat of paint!

We’re only one episode in, but in one of the many changes to the story, we already have two Mew Mews! Ichigo’s the only one we got to see transform, though. So, here she is, becoming a pink Iriomote cat supergirl because anime! 😄

I also included her transformation from the 2002 anime. How many differences can you find?

New Transformation

UPDATE: Unfortunately, Pony Canyon has been taking down videos of Ichigo’s new transformation. I’ll add a new video when I can.

    As infamous as 4kids is for disastrous dubbing at least they had good ideas on the attack names. Even Unicorn of War admits it on the Winx…see Flora’s “Ninja Daisies”….or Stormy’s nickname of “Psycho-Clone!” Although i wouldn’t mind hearing “Strawberry Bell” or “Rose Bell” again. I never really got the whole “Ribbon Check” thing….even though I once read the manga that introduced Berry.

    Although Animal Rescue while running a cafe was fun. Though it’s going to be weird on-screen for anyone who hasn’t read the manga to know who’s who. Well i guess that’s what dub guides are for, but for anyone who only knows 4kids and knows it ran frequently, there’s a liwt below back to back with Winx in the waking up hour. Prior to season Winx 3 it would be Zoey-Bloom-New Thing that 4kids actually wanted-Sonic X-Turtles-New Thing that 4kids unfortunately got stuck with-Sports Showcase. Eventually in season 2’s first rerun cycle they would replace the sports showcase with a Zoey-Bloom-playback before Bloom just sort of kicked everyone but Sonic and Leo off the Network..must have been because they were blue in some way that she allowed them to stay….and Raph has her temper. Later that became a Turtles’ Sonic Bloom. The 2000’s seemed to have a thing for ginger protagonists that were oddballs. Bloom, Will, Kim, Verne, Zoey, At least one pink or yellow power ranger give or take Aisha’s morphix.

    Zoey=Ichigo (Strawberry)
    Corina= Mint
    Bridgette=Lettuce
    Kiki=Pudding
    Renee= Zakura (Pommegranate)

      It may have sounded like I was dismissing the dub, but honestly, I loved it. It was one of the few shows on 4Kids I watched regularly.
